My experiences with textile gear... I have a friend who crashed at 20mph wearing a good quality textile jacket and pants, and the pants ripped where he slid, and the jacket ripped and the armour was shifted out of the way. He got quite a bit of road rash on his arm, but his leg was ok. This was 20mph. Even good quality textile can have possibly very little abrasion resistance if you slide rather than roll. I think a lot of people fall off and roll and everything is fine, but a good slide can get through textile very quickly.

I wear a 2-piece zip together leather suit, and I hit some oil doing about 80km/h in a turn, and you can barely see the marks on the leather where I went down. And the armour worked well too, had one bruise on my arm and that was it.

Get the best you can afford, and if you can't afford leathers, look for used, something inexpensive online, or previous year suits going cheap. I managed to get a $700 2-piece suit for $250 as they were clearing out the old stuff

Quote from RiseAgainstMe! :If only it wasn't so cold all the time...

West coast is not as cold It barely gets below freezing here in the winter, compared to -30C or -40C I think in the interior or out east. And in the summer we get 30C. But also a fair bit of rain.

I'm 6ft 2in, 230lb and I've daily driven an MX5 for 9 years and 200,000km Mine is a '90, and I fit just fine. There is enough head room, leg room, and arm room for me. Maybe you are wider than me? :P Or perhaps you were in a later car? I know some of the NB cars are a bit tighter inside.

I found with the stock wheel, I had to stretch my arms out a bit much, and wrap my knees around the steering wheel a bit. But this wheel is a lot closer, which is great, and gives my knees loads of room under the wheel. But you can see I'm not at all cramped in there

The Elise is a lot more difficult getting in and out, but once I was in I found I had enough headroom even with the helmet on, and leg room was fine too. In fact quite similar in room to the MX5 for me. Just getting in and out is more difficult with the lower seating position, high and wide sills, and smaller opening for doors. Pedals are noticeably offset too, but once you're driving you don't notice

Quote from DevilDare :I love how you just stopped for a moment as if to have a think. "Uhm... How am I going to do this...".

Hahaha yeah it took me a bit to figure it out, and I still was terrible at it! Then had to put the key somewhere. Damn!

Quote from Töki (HUN) :I guess that's GoPro, not that sure though.

Quote from Hezath :Ahhhh... I can't imagine a place to live that has WORSE vehicles, personally.

Hahaha, yes Europe has nothing but shitty cars. Before you say that you really should ask yourself....
Quote from Hezath :Do you actually know of what exists that isn't available where you are from?

... because there are a LOT of good cars available in the UK and europe, a lot of good trackday cars, sports cars, and even a whole bunch of saloons and hatches that are proper drivers cars. Basically you're talking bollocks.

Quote from Hezath :In Australia, the grass is greener.

Haha somebody get this guy a badge for living in the best country! Maybe some gold star stickers as well!

Quote from danowat :never seen a forum with such long standing technical gremlins as RSC.

Agreed, that's what turned me off RSC quite a few years ago. I do hope they get the info back though, it was a great resource like you say.
Who will be faster, Hamilton or Button? :)

I haven't read all the posts but here's my view.... do I still play LFS regularly? No, not really. But how many other games that I started playing 2002 do I still play? Errr, none. The way I've always found things to be is that I buy a game for what it is, then play it until I'm bored with it, then move on to something else. So why does LFS still owe us anything after all these years of entertainment?? Most games you buy in stores do not have development cycles... you buy them and play them until you get bored. Sure another one might come out later but it'll cost you another $60 or whatever...

It seems that just because the devs are continuing to work on LFS, that they owe us something. When in reality we pay for a game and play it for as long as it's entertaining to us. If we get updates that bring us back, then great, if not then leave it and do something else. Maybe you'll pick it up again in another year or two and get back into it for a while, who knows.

When I was using the G25 TC was disabled.... you could wheelspin and donut and whatever you like without it kicking in. It still said it was on 7 in the options, but by using G25 it was definitely off for me.

Yeah I have had my Miata for 8 years and just got a hardtop this fall. Not through necessity, just thought it would be a bit nicer, and so far it is!

Eat well, sleep well, exercise.

Continue to earn enough money to do the things that are really important to me in life.

Actually get out and DO the things that are important to me, rather than just sitting at home thinking about them.

I lived somewhere very snowy for a while with my Miata, I got some snow tires and it was an absolute blast I was making it around just fine, never got stuck, and also took it out on some empty backroads for some fun drifting. It's no worse in the snow than any other 2wd car if you have the right tires on it.

Of course if it's a foot deep it's not going to manage, but other than that I had no problems
